A new bar and lounge dedicated to Army veterans and active duty military and a photography studio are some of the latest additions. The ship will sail out of New Orleans several times this summer for seven-day itineraries to the Eastern or Western Caribbean, according to a recent news release from Carnival. The Carnival Liberty will set sail from New Orleans this summer and make multiple stops at beach vacation destinations. That has helped the company increase occupancy levels, ending 2023 at 98% of the pre-COVID average. At the same time, Carnival has been adjusting its business to push customers toward more on-board spending.

She also has departures from Barcelona, Rome and Reykjavik, before crossing the Atlantic to offer sailings from New York, Galveston, Miami and Port Canaveral.

Built by Meyer Werft in Germany, Norwegian Breakaway shares many amenities with sister ship Norwegian Getaway, such as a Geoffrey Zakarian-designed restaurant. Debuting in 2022 and kicking off the Prima class, Norwegian Prima was also built at the Italian shipyard Fincantieri. Norwegian Cruise Line currently has six different classes of cruise ships with three other ships being their own individual class. Each class of ship is a unique architectural design and has it’s own unique layout and features.

But she's still large enough to pack some pretty over-the-top amenities. After originally ordering four Prima Class vessels, Norwegian Cruise Line confirmed options for two additional vessels in 2018. With the Norwegian Prima entering service soon, the brand is introducing a new six-ship class which will add nearly 20,000 berths to its fleet. Three More Prima Plus Class Ships – 2026 to 2028
Norwegian Dawn is the second ship in the Dawn Class and is the sister of Norwegian Star. She is 92,250 GRTs and carries 2,340 passengers (based on two per cabin). She is 93,558 GRTs and carries 2,402 passengers (based on two per cabin). She was originally built as Pride of Hawaii for their NCL America division. Norwegian Jade was also used as a floating hotel during the 2014 Winter Olympics in Sochi. Norwegian Viva is Norwegian Cruise Line’s newest ship in the fleet, the second ship in the popular Prima Class, and sister to Norwegian Prima.
The Haven Sundeck
This is one of the fastest expansions of a cruise line that I’ve ever seen, with a ship due to launch every year until 2028. I’m sure there will be many more exciting announcements to come about the ship as we near her launch date. She’ll share a lot of similarities with Norwegian Prima and Norwegian Viva, but she’ll be bigger, and able to hold just over 3,500 guests. The next ship to launch for Norwegian Cruise Line will be Norwegian Aqua – the first of a new sub-class of ship named Prima Plus.

Another Prima Class cruise ships is set to be delivered by Fincantieri in 2025. Set for a 2024 delivery, the vessel will be built at the Fincantieri shipyard, with capacity to accommodate 3,550 passengers in double occupancy. Viva will also have shore power capabilities, which have the potential to dramatically reduce in-port emissions by letting the ship tap into cleaner energy from the grid.

In terms of size, Norwegian Viva is a similar volume to sister ship Norwegian Prima, but she holds an increased number of passengers – around 3,200, compared to 3,100 on the earlier ship.
